pages: 0-60

I believe that most characters are believe with the exception of few that I have not read up to.   I believe that Harry is some what in the of believable and unbelievable area the character himself can is realistic someone that lives with his aunt and uncle that is not cared for and likes to go to school. While at the same time it unbelievable that he is wizard, that he is hate by a man that has killed his parents but survived do to the fact his mom but a spell on him. His uncle Vernon is believable because hating people, being mean and beings overweight being to become more common  of being human. Dudley is overweight, spoiled, and hates Harry this is something that happens with kids now a days.

Something that was believable was that Harry is unwanted by his uncle, aunt, and cousins because this happens often in real life. While one thing that is unbelievable is that Harry was able to inflate his  aunt. Another thing that was unbelievable was that their is a bus that can go hundreds of miles and hour while not crashing into cars.  Harry liking to go to school is one thing that was believable do to the fact that many kids do like to go to school. There being a secret town in London is unbelievable because there are many satellite that see most of the earth and heat scanner that can see heat throughout objects

I have enjoyed it do the fact that is well written the tone is calm and nice while it can turn with a snap of a finger to sad and angry. Another reasoning that I like this book because it takes you to a new world filled with wonder and "magic" that most author don't try to deal with.  The author also writes the character development so well you can see how they have grown over time.  The way that you are able to connect with the characters do to the fact that under the fact that they can use magic they are just regular kids having a good time with each other.  The fact that there is a deranged killer out to get Harry shows that he is not save no matter were he is which gives a greater element to the book.

Mocking Jay 12/8

Pages 154-234
Prompts: 1.)After reading, I wonder… 2.)   3.)If you could talk to the author, what questions would you ask? Why?

After reading, I wonder what would have happened if Katniss had died in the Hunger Games would they have still gone with the plans of the revolution would they have found a new Mocking Jay.  I wonder what would have happened if Katniss had not volunteered for her sister Prim. I wonder what would President Snow have done if he had not captured Petta would they have found away to control Katniss.  I wonder would of have happen if Haymitch would not be a drunk. I wonder what would have happened if Katniss never became friends with Petta.

A bow and arrow stand for strength, balance and patients that is need to fight in a war. A camera to show the shooting of film,  angles and perspective of the many different sides of a war whether you are no the side of the good or the bad side.  Blood of a soldier that is fighting out of courage, for justice, and wanting to protect those they love. Land to show were the war takes place, the place were people live, and were the hundreds of soldiers lose their lives.

If the author was here I would ask her why she decided that district 12 had to get bombed. I would ask her why she made it so that district 13 would be underground. I would ask her how did she come up with the idea of the Hunger Games did she see a movie or something that.  Where did see come up with the name of the characters I would ask her.  My final question would be are the district based on the colonies during the Revolutionary.

Mocking Jay 12/1/14

Pages 54-154
Prompt: Describe what was either believable or unbelievable about your reading.
Defend your opinion

Something that is believable in the Mocking Jay book is that people want a revolution to happen because it has happened before in the past like when the 13 colonies fought the revolutionary war. Another thing that is believable is that a area would be bombed this has happened before an example of this is many years ago when a city in Russia was nuked and now no can lived their for many years. While something that is not believable is that someone would put in an arena to kill other with futurist weapons so the government does not fall apart because the government relays more on document the death. Another thing that is believable that they people that are in the war will do what they need to get allies.

I believe that the revolution in the book is the same as the American Revolution. I piece of evidence is that there are 13 district and in the American Revolution there were 13 colonies which is one similarities. Another similarity is that there is one government that separates itself that is much richer than the rest.  Also this government does something that pushes the colonist/district over the edge to wanting to be free. This smaller group of people want a revolution to happen but at first they don't all get along but eventually they start to join together.  Both government want to start a republic so that decision are equal and fair.

The major conflict is that President Snow is being oppressive to the district and district 13 is trying to start a revolution so that they can be free. I am on district 13 sides because they are fighting for a good cause so that they can be free. Another reason that I am on district 13's side is because they helped district 12 when they were bombed so that they could have a home. A reason that also persuades me to district 13 side because President Snow captured victors from the games and tortured them.  The final reason that I am on district 13' sides is because the capital send kids to kill each other.

Mocking Jay 11/17/14

Mocking Jay

Prompt: 1.) Summary 2.)Characterization 3.) Point of view

Pages 3-53

Katniss Everdeen is visiting district 12 after the capital, bombed the district. She is sadden by the fact that many died because of her destroying the arena in the games.  After walking around for some time she must return to district 13 were she is now living and her family.  She eventually finds out that Petta is still alive and is happy. After some time she agrees to be the mocking jay for district 13.  She has some conditions for being the mocking jay Petta is not going to be killed, she get to hunt, her sisters cat gets to stay, and she gets to kills snow. Later they discover that Katniss had been kidnapped and is being held in a floor even deeper underground.

Katniss is very humble on page 6 on paragraph 3 which shows that she is very sad that she is the reason that her home was destroyed. This an indirect characterization because it does not say that she was sad but she thinks in a current way to let the reader know. On page 38 she wrote on piece of paper "I Kill Snow"... This a direct characterization because it show that she hates snow and want his dead.  On page 39  Katniss says that "Gale. I'll need him with me to do this" Which shows the reader that she care about Gale which is and indirect characterization.

I believe that this story is in first person because Katniss is always say I and me. An example of this is one page 21 where she says "I push people aside until I am right in front of him..."  Which shows the reader that she is talking the first person perspective.  Another example would be on page  11 where Katniss thinks "I just watch the perfect line of Coin's hair and try to decide if it's a wig. Which again shows that she is talking in firs person. My final example is on page 28 where Katniss says "I bite my lip, trying to remain serious. Which shows the reader that it the book is in first person.

The Hypnotists 11/10/14

The Hypnotist

Pages: 118-218

Prompt: Analyze the impact word choice has on the meaning or tone of a text. and analyze how dialogue or specific incidents reveal information about characters. Make sure to include textual evidence. 3.)Describe the major conflict. What side are you on?

Word chose can change the tone of the book from positive to negative and vis versa. An example of this is on page 131 the first full paragraph you can read "But the emotion that came in it was brand-new and shocking in its intensity. Hatred" which change the mood of the chapter because before this he was just bored at Sentia but now he felt hatred from a vision he was having. Another example of this is on page 143 in paragraph 1 it states that "but when Mr. Morrison tried to help you, you pushed him away and told him to mind his own business." This shows the reader that from being a regular day for Jax it turned into a terrible day because of the vision he was having in the previous paragraph that caused his to push the teacher and get sent to the principal office.  While an example of negative moment turning into a positive moment was on page 156 on paragraph two the author wrote "The jumper swung his left leg over the barrier and was a jumper no more." Which show the reader that the negative tone is gone because the person is out of danger for now.

Analyzing dialogue helps us find specific information about a character because it show something about them that we could not tell without an image or backstory.  Chapter 22 shows the reader Jax is a good person because in that chapter he saves the life of a man that want to jump of a bridge by hypnotizing him and caring him.  Another example of this is on page 148 the last paragraph when talking to Wilson he makes fun of Jax and calls him names. To the reader this shows that he is being a bully Jax of course their are other examples throughout the other chapters. On page 117 on the last paragraph to you can read that Tommy tries to help out Jax so that he does not get beat up by the school bully. This shows the reader that Tommy cares for his friend so that he is not hurt.

Major Spoiler !!!!!!!!

The major conflict of the book is that Dr. Mako wants to hypnotize Americans to vote for Trey Douglas by using Jax hypnotic powers, Jax is trying to stop him. Personally I am on Jax side because he wants to stop him so that the candidate win fair and square. Another reason that I am on the side of Jax is because he is trying to stop a man from taking a person's freedom away from them.  I am on the side of Jax because he is the good guy trying to save people from being controlled without knowing what happened.  The final reason I am on his side is because he did the video to hypnosis the people to save his mother and father and so that he could have control over others.
